Born in Poland Sept. 7, 1923, daughter of the late Michael and Emily Rapala; U.S. Navy veteran, World War II.

Survived by daughters, Sandra Reed and her fiancé, Craig Duncan of Southington and Jorene Uluski “Renee” Haydusky and her husband, Bruce of Ansonia, and a niece.

Also predeceased by a grandson, and sister, Lucille Sciongay.

Burial: St. Michael Cemetery, Derby.

Thomas E. Comcowich Jr., 85, of Shelton, senior field technician for Northeast Utilities, husband of Jean P. DeMartin Comcowich, died Nov. 1, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

Born Sept. 16, 1930, in Derby, son of the late Thomas and Eva (Wanciak) Comcowich.

Also survived by his children, Lauren (Nicholas) Steen of Minnesota, Thomas (Lisa) Comcowich, III of Wallingford and Lynn (Kenneth) Damato of Huntington; sister, Anna Mae Pertoso of Ansonia, and four grandchildren.

Also predeceased by his daughter, Jean P. Comcowich and sister, Evelyn Moore.

Born in Bridgeport to the late Peter and Paraskeva (Popochak) Dragan.

Survived by children, Nicholas Harko of Huntington, Serge Harko of Monroe, Michael Harko of Stratford, and Tanya Sciaudone and her husband, Robert of Massachusetts, three grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, her brother Peter Dragan and his wife, Ruth of Florida, a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph F. Willets, 44, formerly of Ansonia, foreman for R&N Construction Group, former owner of A-1 Modern Concrete in Ansonia, died Nov. 5, at his home in North Carolina.

Born March 24, 1971, in Arizona, son of Frank and Nancy (Apanavich) Willets of Ansonia.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother, John M. Willets and his wife, Shannon, nieces, Morgan, Carmella and Aislin Willets, all of Shelton, many aunts, uncles, cousins and his longtime companion, Leslie Matejak of Derby.

Predeceased by maternal grandparents, Joseph and Anna Apanavich and paternal grandparents, Carmella and Frederick Willets.

Services: Thursday, Nov. 12, 7 p.m., Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Visiting hours: Thursday, 4-7 p.m., prior to the service.

James C. “Pops” Zdru, 70, of Stratford, a retired dental tech for Bonvini Lab in Bridgeport, died Nov. 11, in Bridgeport Hospital.

Born in Edessa, Greece to the late Christo and Anna (Popescu) Zdru he immigrated to the Bridgeport in 1963, a short time later married Diana Altieri and resided in Stratford since.

Survived by his children, James Zdru and his wife, Jenn of Stratford, Jonathan Zdru and his wife, Darcie of Stratford, Jeremy Zdru and his wife, Jamie of Shelton, Jared Zdru of Stratford, Shawna Stirk and her husband, Keith of Milford and Wendi Zdru of Stratford, eight grandchildren, a brother, George Zdru of New Haven, two nephews, a niece.

Also predeceased by a sister, Gina and a brother, Nick.

Survived by three sons, Dr. Patrick Mastroianni and his wife, Linda of Milford, Lawrence Mastroni, PhD., and his wife, Leta of Norman, Oklahoma, and Kenneth Mastroni, Esq., and his wife, Kelly of Guilford, three grandchildren, and her sister, Frances Aucello and her husband, Russell of North Haven.

Born in Niantic to the late Brent and Lorraine (Cornet) Ray.

Survived by children, Jacqueline Felicella (David) of Milford, Frank Bargo (Debbie) of Stratford, Eddie Bargo (Patty) of Shelton, and Lee Bargo (Denise) Stratford, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brothers, Anthony Ray and John Ray, sisters, Juanita Hortman, and Sandra Sabre, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m. in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.

Besides his parents, survivors include a sister, Patricia Thorne and her husband, Joseph of Shelton, a niece and nephew, Catherine and Joseph Thorne, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Born in Beverly, Mass. Nov. 13, 1958, son of the late Robert McKinley and L. Jane Florey Shimer; former Boy Scout Leader Troop 55 of Shelton, former member of the Sons of the American Legion Sutter-Terlizzi Post 16 of Shelton.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Rebecca Cauchon and her husband, Mark of Shelton, and Brian Shimer of Shelton; his brothers, Robert W. Shimer of Georgia, and Kevin D. Shimer of Groveland, Mass.; his sister, Margaret J. Slocum of Amesbury, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his son, David E. Shimer and his brother, Richard A. Shimer.

Maria Michela (Cardellio) Nizzardo, 91, wife of the late Fillippo Nizzardo, died Nov. 23, at Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stratford.

Born May 7, 1924, in Settefrati, Italy, daughter of the late Antonio Cardellio and Enrica (Macari) Cardellio.

Survived by four sons and their wives, Michael and Carol Nizzardo of Huntington, Louis and Linda Nizzardo of Naples, Fla. and Shelton, Anthony and Paula Nizzardo of Stratford, and Philip Jr. and Angela Nizzardo of Orange, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Born April 17, 1936, in Rutland, Vt., to Donald Preedom and Dorothy Nourse.

Also predeceased by her sons, Kevin and David, and sister, Beatrice Broniewski.

Survived by her children, Brian Skene and partner Maria, Debra Reale and husband Mark, Susan Thees and husband Paul, Laurie Grosso and husband John, and Craig Skene and wife Christy; six grandchildren, and her in-laws.

Survived by five children, Mary Jo Rizzo and her husband, Adam, of Cheshire, Bart Liquigli and his wife, Clorinda, of Trumbull, Anne Marie Maini and her husband, Ben, of Monroe, Gina Gallo and her husband, Tim, of Trumbull and Joey Anne Liquigli of Bridgeport; nine grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Varad-Surat, India on Feb. 11, 1930, son of the late Ravji and Dahiben Patel.

Survived by a son, Anil C. Patel and his wife, Gita of Shelton, a daughter, Bhavna Patel of London, England, grandsons, Mayur Patel of Tampa, Fla. and Himesh Patel of Shelton.

Visitation and prayers will take place on Thursday, Dec. 10, 10-noon, Spinelli-Ricciuti/Bednar-Osiecki Funeral Home, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At noon, his funeral will process to Oak Grove Crematory in West Haven for final prayer and cremation.
