Obituary: Regina Zamba, 85, formerly of Shelton

Regina Zamba, 85, formerly of Shelton, passed peacefully on April 21, 2015 in Fresno California.

She was preceded by her loving husband John Zamba of 53 years.

She is survived by two children, Michael Zamba, and his wife Sandra Zamba, of Oakhurst, California, and David Zamba, and his wife Roberta Reynolds of Shelton, Connecticut.

Regina was born and raised in Freeland, Pennsylvania, the youngest child of Mary and Michael Kalanevich. She was the church organist at St. John Nepomucene Church and a popular performer with the Hazelton Choraliers where she sang and recorded several records.

Regina had several successful careers including being one of the nation’s top five sellers of Tupperware during the 1970s. She also worked for the United States Labor Department compiling the Consumer Price Index, as well as working for the University of Bridgeport in the financial Aid and engineering departments.

Regina will be best remembered for her engaging smile and always giving back to the community. She was a tireless political activist and served on the City of Shelton Connecticut Senior Advisory Committee, Parks Recreation Committee and the Citizens Advisory Board. She founded the Shelton Diamond Club booster organization in 1982, which still supports the High School Baseball program. She also served the City of San Jose, California as commissioner and advisor on senior affairs.
